Plants, Planting, and Being Planted

You gotta know that I just love summer, especially here in Guysborough....I just can't think of a nicer place to be in the summer and this one has been stellar! We did more than sit on the porch and ruminate but this was fun too.

We got to grow a lot of what we ate and that was a joyful endeavour too. Magic or miracle that you can put a few little seeds in the earth and before long you have a life giving feast.

What I couldn't grow in my garden ...someone else grew in theirs and on Saturday mornings we enjoyed the Farmers Market at the Jost Waterfront.  That was so much fun I really looked forward to seeing the familiar faces each week Gail's bread and Jams , lusting over Paul's  leather works and Gladys' glass gems, Cindy and John providing truckloads of produce, June's creations, The Seawind Landing's creations make me hungry just thinking about them, to all the growers and artisans ...thank you so much for your gifts to my summer and I look forward to an even better one next year.

One of the most beautiful flower gardens I've seen in  a long time was the 7:00 AM  yoga classes at the Jost Waterfront building; even the gentle summer rain was a soft gift to the soul in the quiet morning hours.
On sunny mornings (Tuesdays and Thursdays) you felt the rising sun fill the hearts of the women and I saw them slip into the days activities as smooth as silk.
Who knew 7:00AM in the summer would be a touch point ? Thank all of you who came for your affirming support. I grew from this too.

We definitely stayed planted during Guysborough Come Home Week this year and I ran the first Circus camp with a group of wonderful children (some resident and some visiting) see pics of some of the activities on my Facebook page here .
We were lucky enough to have a young dancer /choreographer from Ontario join us in the dance and, to our delight, there was a visit from a professional dancer from the New York Ballet who took us through a few dance warm ups. Big Thank You to Sam Greenberg for sharing your time with us.

Summer would not be summer without the odd campfire and family get together. My brother , his wife and daughters from Calgary shared campfire time with us on a warm Nova Scotia evening.
Tara our daughter got to spend some precious time with us before heading back to the Arctic These times together are precious and keep us going all through the long winter to come.

Rare Birds!

As we work through the closing down of summer I will keep you updated on sailboats, Kayaks, and coffee and visits from a variety of pooches and the Color PURPLE...

Until next time ...
